LMICK Minute - Issue #10

To Our Policyholders:

2020 – what a ride! While the year is not yet over, it is hard not to start looking ahead to 2021 with hopes for an effective vaccine, the opportunity to see family and friends, and the freedom to resume our professional lives, including fully reopening our offices, going to court and meeting with clients and colleagues. The year has been difficult to be sure, but as a company we know that we have a lot for which to be thankful. That gratitude begins with you - our policyholders.

Here at LMICK, we have spent this past year pivoting, adapting and becoming stronger because of the hard work required in a challenging time. We have gotten creative and stepped outside of our comfort zones, - all with the best interests of our insureds in mind. Beyond that we’ve attempted to serve not only our legal communities, but also the communities across the Commonwealth in which our insureds live.

In 2020, two of LMICK’s long-time Board members stepped down after many years of service to the Company. We honor and thank John Prather and Dan Stratton for all they have done for LMICK and the lawyers of Kentucky. They are true founding fathers of our organization and the depth of our gratitude is immeasurable. Thanks too goes to Doug Ballantine for his tenure on the LMICK Board that coincided with his tenure as President-Elect, President and Past President of the Kentucky Bar Association. His dedication and service to our profession is to be commended. Without the support of its Board, LMICK would be unable to fulfill it mission of being “Kentucky Lawyers, Serving Kentucky Lawyers” and to “serve your practice as our own.”

Also in 2020, we welcomed to our Board Kimberly S. McCann with VanAntwerp Attorneys, LLP in Ashland; James G. Adams with Thomas, Arvin and Adams, PLLC, in Hopkinsville; Howard O. Mann of the Law Offices of Howard O. Mann in Corbin; and John David (J.D.) Meyer of Meyer & Meyer in Owensboro. We look forward to accomplishing great work in 2021 and beyond with the continued guidance and support of LMICK’s Board members, past and present.

With 2020 coming to a fast close, we are busy looking ahead to next year and how we can continue to serve you. First up on January 13th, we are excited to provide the seminar featuring Brooke Lively. Since the original invitation was sent, the event has been approved for 1 hr of CLE by the KBA. You can still register for the event, This email address is being protected from spambots. For more information, please see LMICK Board Chair Ruth Baxter’s recent review of Brooke Lively’s From Panic to Profit: How 6 Key Numbers Can Make a 6 Figure Difference in Your Law Practice in the November/December issue of Bench and Bar. With permission from the KBA and Mrs. Baxter, we have included the review for ease of reference.

Finally, our office is closed December 24 – 25 and January 1 in observance of Christmas and New Year. On behalf of the LMICK Board and staff, thank you for letting us be a part of your business family. We wish you and yours Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
